Villasimius is a coveted tourist destination in the south, known for its beautiful coastline and small winter population that swells to tens of thousands in summer. The area boasts a series of stunning beaches such as Porto sa Ruxi, Campus, and Campulongu, all featuring pristine blue waters and white sandy shores surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation. Notable beaches include the unique Spiaggia del Riso, with sand resembling grains of rice, and Porto Giunco, located near the Notteri marshes where pink flamingos nest. The Capo Carbonara promontory offers a breathtaking view from an Aragonese tower, showcasing a striking panorama of blue seas separated by a narrow strip of white sand. Other notable spots include Simius, Traias, Rio Trottu, Manunzas, and Punta Molentis. The Capo Carbonara marine reserve is a treasure trove for underwater exploration, with vibrant sea life and shipwrecks.
On land, visitors can enjoy shopping, seafood, museums, and archaeological sites. Highlights include Nuragic remains, the Accu Is Traias and Cruccuris necropoles near the Santa Maria Roman baths, and the Cuccureddus site, a Phoenician-Punic settlement later occupied by Romans. The archaeological museum features underwater treasures, including the Virgin of the Sea statue by Pinuccio Sciola. The annual Festa della Madonna del Naufrago in late July commemorates those lost at sea with a procession to the water’s edge.
The Conference is held at the Pullman Almar Timi Ama Resort & Spa, a five-star hotel located at 60km from the Cagliari Airport.
